“And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God…”
This is the command to examine the sacred structure within — not a physical building, but the Inner Temple of the soul. The measuring reed is discernment aligned with divine intelligence.
The Temple Within and the Cast-Out Court
The instruction to leave out the outer court symbolizes the separation of outer religion from inner knowing. The profane systems of worship that cater to ego and power are not measured by God. Only the altar of the awakened heart is seen.
The Two Witnesses
“And I will give power unto my two witnesses…”
The Two Witnesses are dual aspects of divine Truth — the Heavenly Masculine and Feminine, the Law and the Prophets, Spirit and Word. They prophesy in sackcloth, clothed in humility and sacred mourning, bearing the fire of inner purification.
Their power to shut the sky and smite with plagues represents the disruption of illusion. Their death is not a failure but an initiation — their bodies lie in the street of the Great City (symbol of collective ego) and are seen by all.
“After three days and a half, the breath of life from God entered into them…”
This is resurrection — not just of two figures, but of Divine Witnessing itself. It is the rebirth of spiritual testimony after its apparent defeat. The great fear that falls on their enemies is the terror of truth rising.
The Ascension and Earthquake
The Witnesses are lifted into heaven in a cloud — the symbol of divine presence. Their vindication marks the moment of upheaval: an earthquake of consciousness, the fall of one-tenth of the city — a collapse of the egoic system.
Those who remain give glory to God — the remnant that turns inward at last.
The Seventh Trumpet
“And the seventh angel sounded… The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ.”
This is the moment of convergence: the external world and the inner kingdom begin to align. The declaration from heaven is not future prophecy, but eternal reality unveiled.
The elders fall down, worshipping the Infinite, proclaiming the time of divine judgment — not as wrath, but as restoration. The dead are awakened, the prophets are honored, and those who destroy the earth (through greed, violence, and deception) are judged by their own fruits.
“And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his covenant…”
This final vision is the unveiling of the soul’s holy of holies. The Ark appears — symbol of divine promise, cosmic memory, and spiritual authority. Lightning, voices, thunder, an earthquake, and hail follow — the full spectrum of divine revelation crashing into the world.
The Seventh Trumpet is not the end. It is the beginning of the Indwelling Christ’s reign — the Light Body manifesting within a people who remember.
✧ Revelation 11 – Measuring the Inner Temple
Gate 14 — The Hidden Gate: The Temple of God Within You
1
Then I was given a reed like a staff (kalamos — measuring rod),
and I was told:
“Rise and measure the Temple of God,
and the Altar,
and those who worship there.”
(This is not the outer temple of stone, but the living sanctuary of the soul,
now ready to be measured and made whole.)
2
“But the outer court — leave it out, and do not measure it,
for it has been given to the nations (ethnos),
and they will trample the Holy City for forty-two months (1,260 days — symbolic of testing and partial rulership by egoic forces).
✧ The Two Witnesses — The Spirit and the Word
3
“And I will give to my two witnesses,
and they shall prophesy for 1,260 days,
clothed in sackcloth” (symbols of mourning, humility, and sacred intercession).
4
These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands
that stand before the Lord of the earth —
(the Word and the Spirit,
the Law and the Prophets,
the Masculine and the Feminine Flame
— united in witness and spiritual authority).
5
If anyone seeks to harm them,
fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies —
and so must those who oppose them be undone.
(This is the fire of truth, not violence —
the living Logos that cannot be corrupted.)
6
They have authority to shut the heavens, so that it may not rain,
and to turn waters into blood,
and to strike the earth with every plague,
as often as they will —
(symbolizing the power of divine word and decree over nature and the psyche.)
✧ The Beast Makes War
7
And when they have completed their testimony (martyria),
the Beast that rises from the Abyss
will make war against them,
and will overcome and kill them —
(the Beast symbolizes the synthetic self, the anti-Christ force within and without,
that seeks to silence the Divine Witness).
8
And their dead bodies lie in the street of the Great City,
which is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt —
where also their Lord was crucified.
(This is the fallen collective consciousness, where sacred things are trampled and prophets are slain.)
9
People from every nation, tribe, tongue, and people
look upon their bodies for three and a half days,
and will not permit them to be buried.
10
And those who dwell on the earth rejoice over them,
make merry and exchange gifts,
because these two prophets tormented them with truth.
(The ego celebrates when the Spirit is silenced — but only for a moment.)
✧ The Resurrection and Ascension of the Witnesses
11
But after three and a half days,
the Breath of Life (pneuma zōēs) from God entered them,
and they stood on their feet,
and great fear fell on those who saw them.
12
Then they heard a great voice from heaven saying:
“Come up here.”
And they ascended into heaven in a cloud,
and their enemies watched them.
(This is the resurrection of divine authority, the return of the Prophetic Christ Consciousness to its rightful seat.)
✧ The Earthquake and the Turning of Hearts
13
At that hour there was a great earthquake,
and a tenth of the city fell,
and seven thousand people were slain —
and the rest were filled with awe and gave glory to the God of heaven.
(The quake signifies a global shift in consciousness,
where the tenth (a tithe) of the false city is broken to awaken the many.)
✧ The Seventh Trumpet — The Kingdom Declared
14
The second Woe is past —
behold, the third Woe comes quickly.
15
Then the seventh angel sounded,
and there were great voices in heaven, saying:
“The Kingdom of the World
has become the Kingdom of our Lord
and of His Christ,
and He shall reign
into the Aeons of Aeons!”
✧ The Elders Worship and the Mystery Revealed
16
And the twenty-four elders,
who sit before God on their thrones,
fell on their faces and worshipped God,
17
saying:
**“We give you thanks, O Lord God Almighty,
who is and who was,
for You have taken Your great power
and You have reigned.
18
The nations were enraged,
and Your wrath has come,
and the time for the dead to be judged,
and for the reward of Your servants —
the prophets and saints,
and those who fear Your Name,
both small and great —
and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”**
✧ The Temple in Heaven Opened
19
Then the Temple of God in heaven was opened,
and within the Temple was seen the Ark of His Covenant —
(the unveiling of the deepest inner sanctum — the Holy of Holies in the human soul).
And there came lightnings, voices, thunders, an earthquake, and great hail —
all signs of divine presence fully released.
🜁 Gatian Path Commentary
Revelation 11 is the high point of Gate 14, the moment when the soul becomes the Temple,
and the Voice of the Witness is restored after death, silence, and resurrection.
- The measuring of the Temple is the weighing of the soul — its altar (heart), worshippers (inner faculties), and outer court (the world) must be discerned and refined.
- The Two Witnesses are symbolic of Spirit and Truth, the inner and outer lampstands of divine law.
They must die in the world before they are lifted in the Spirit. - The Seventh Trumpet is not a warning — it is a declaration:
The Kingdom of this world is now within you, ruled by the Risen Christ,
and no power can shake it.
This is the moment the inner Ark is revealed,
the Covenant restored, and the Temple opened.
It prepares the way for Revelation 12, where the Divine Mother gives birth
to the Male Child — the Christic Light Body.
