Revelation Chapter 3 — For Children and the Child Within
John sat quietly on the soft green grass of Patmos,
his scroll open, his heart glowing like a lantern.
The shining one continued to speak,
and the words filled the sky like stars forming sentences.
“Now write three more letters,” the Light said,
“for there are still three gates left to knock on.”
✦ The Fifth Letter: To the City That Fell Asleep
“To the people of Sardis,” the Light whispered,
“I see you moving, but inside, you’re sleeping.”
“Wake up, little ones.
Shine again like you did at the start.
There’s still a spark inside you.
Hold onto it—and I will clothe you in robes of Light.”
✦ The Sixth Letter: To the City of the Little Key
“To the people of Philadelphia,” the Light said joyfully,
“You are small, but your heart is big.
You kept my word, even when it was hard.”
“So look! I give you a key—a golden key that opens a door no one can shut.
Walk through it. I will write a new name on your heart,
and you will live in the Temple of God forever.”
✦ The Seventh Letter: To the City That Forgot the Flame
“To Laodicea,” the Light said,
“You are not hot, and you are not cold—you are lukewarm.
You’ve forgotten how much you need Me.”
“Come close again. I stand at the door of your heart and knock.
If you hear Me, and open the door,
I will come in and share a meal of Light with you.”
Each of the seven cities had been given a treasure:
✦ A flame to remember
✦ A crown of courage
✦ A sword of truth
✦ A shining star
✦ A robe of light
✦ A golden key
✦ And a name written by God
And the Light whispered once more:
“Whoever listens and overcomes…
shall sit with Me on the throne of the heart,
just as I overcame, and now sit with the One who sent Me.”
And John placed down his pen,
looked to the sky,
and waited for what would come next…
